Terms of Service — Qoot
Last updated: June 11, 2026
Consent version: 2026-06-22 — this is the reference recorded with your consent, and it identifies this version of the text.
1. Purpose and acceptance
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the Qoot mobile application and the getqoot.com website (together, the "Service"), operated by Serenity Media, a French SASU registered under SIREN number 999 352 842, with its registered office at 8 bis Hameau de Girou, 09300 Villeneuve-d'Olmes, Ariège, France ("Serenity Media", "we", "our").
By creating an account, ticking the acceptance box provided for that purpose, or using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
The Service is available to people aged 16 or over.
If you are under 18, you confirm that you use the Service — and, where applicable, take out a subscription — with the prior consent of your legal representative (parent or guardian), who accepts these Terms on your behalf and under their responsibility. We reserve the right to request confirmation of this consent.
3. Description of the Service
Qoot is a nutrition tracking app offering, among other things: calorie and macronutrient tracking, meal photo analysis, a barcode scanner with halal status estimation, a conversational assistant ("Qoot Coach"), prayer times and a Ramadan mode, as well as recipes.
The Service is provided "as is". We may change, suspend or discontinue all or part of its features at any time.
4. Important notice — Health and nutrition
Qoot does not provide medical advice. The information, calorie estimates, nutritional values and recommendations provided by the Service are for indicative purposes only and do not replace the advice of a healthcare professional, a doctor or a dietitian.
AI-powered analyses (photo analysis, estimates) may contain errors and should not be regarded as accurate. Consult a healthcare professional before making any decision relating to your diet, in particular if you have a medical condition, are undergoing treatment, are pregnant, or have an eating disorder.
You use the Service at your own responsibility.
5. Important notice — Halal status
Qoot does not issue religious opinions (fatwa) or official halal certification. The displayed halal status (for example "likely halal", "doubtful", "not halal") is an automated estimate based on available data (notably Open Food Facts) and on rules and AI-powered analysis. These estimates:
- may be incomplete or incorrect, particularly when product data is missing or inaccurate;
- constitute neither a halal certification nor a religious opinion;
- do not replace checking the product label or consulting a competent religious authority.
It is your responsibility to verify for yourself whether what you consume is permissible. Serenity Media cannot be held liable for a decision made on the basis of an estimate provided by the Service.
6. Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials confidential, and for all activity carried out through your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.
7. Subscriptions and payments
Certain features ("Premium") are available through a paid subscription.
- Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the app stores (Apple App Store or Google Play), under their own terms. The technical management of subscriptions relies on our provider RevenueCat.
- Unless otherwise stated, subscriptions renew automatically for the same period, at the price in effect, unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Managing and cancelling your subscription is done directly in your Apple or Google account settings.
- Refunds are governed by App Store and Google Play policies; they are handled by Apple and Google, not by Serenity Media.
- A free trial, where offered, automatically converts into a paid subscription at its end, unless cancelled before the trial ends.
Prices are shown in the app and may change; any change will be communicated to you and will apply to subsequent renewal periods.
Right of withdrawal. As a consumer in the European Union, you are in principle entitled to a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. However, as the subscription is a digital service supplied immediately, you acknowledge, by activating your subscription, that you request its immediate performance and agree to lose your right of withdrawal for the portion already performed, in accordance with Article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code. As subscriptions are purchased via the App Store or Google Play, the exercise of this right and any refunds are governed by Apple's and Google's policies.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Service for unlawful purposes; attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or those of our providers; disrupt the operation of the Service; extract or reuse our data in an unauthorised manner (in particular by scraping); circumvent technical limitations or paid features; or infringe the rights of third parties.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, its brand, logo, interface, texts and content are protected by the rights of their respective owners. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the Service, in compliance with these Terms and applicable third-party licences. You retain the rights to your own data.
Product data is sourced in particular from Open Food Facts and its contributors. The database is licensed under ODbL 1.0, individual contents under DbCL 1.0, and product photos under CC BY-SA 3.0. Source product pages and licences are linked alongside the displayed data and photos. Trademarks and elements shown on packaging may be subject to other rights. Qoot's nutrition and halal assessments do not imply endorsement by Open Food Facts.
City search uses data © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under ODbL 1.0. The reuse rights granted by these licences continue to apply to the relevant content; these Terms do not restrict them.
10. Your content
You retain ownership of the data you enter (meals, measurements, etc.). You grant us a limited right to host and process it solely for the purpose of providing the Service, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Community content. The Service may let you publish content visible to other users (such as recipes). By publishing such content, you warrant that you hold the rights to it and grant Serenity Media a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it within the Service.
Zero tolerance. Serenity Media enforces a zero-tolerance policy toward objectionable content and abusive behaviour. The following are strictly prohibited, without limitation: illegal, hateful, harassing, violent, sexually explicit, deceptive content, or content infringing the rights of others; as well as any content that falsely presents non-halal items as halal. You agree not to post any such content and not to behave abusively toward other users.
Moderation. Published content is automatically filtered before going live. You can report any objectionable content and block any user from within the app; we undertake to review reports and remove offending content within 24 hours, and to eject the users responsible. We may remove any content and suspend or terminate any account that breaches this clause, without notice.
11. Personal data
The processing of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.
12. Warranties and limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of accuracy, continuous availability or freedom from error. Serenity Media cannot be held liable for indirect damages, nor for consequences arising from: an incorrect nutritional or halal estimate, a decision made on the basis of the Service, an interruption of the Service, or use that does not comply with these Terms.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, as a consumer you benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity (Articles L224-25-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, applicable to digital content and services) as well as the guarantee against hidden defects. These statutory guarantees apply independently of these Terms, and nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude our liability where the law prohibits it (in particular in cases of wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or infringement of the rights the law grants you as a consumer).
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from the settings. We may suspend or terminate your access in the event of a breach of these Terms, or for legal or security reasons.
In the event of termination, your current subscription follows App Store or Google Play policies (no refund is due from Serenity Media beyond what the law requires), and your personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to the Terms
We may amend these Terms. In the event of a material change, we will notify you in the app or by email, with reasonable advance notice. You may reject the amended Terms by stopping use of the Service and closing your account before they take effect; otherwise, continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
15. Consumer mediation
In accordance with Articles L611-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, after sending us a prior written complaint that has not received a satisfactory response, you may resort free of charge to a consumer mediator for the amicable resolution of the dispute. The mediator we are affiliated with is:
CM2C — Centre de la Médiation de la Consommation de Conciliateurs de Justice 49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris, France Website: https://www.cm2c.net/declarer-un-litige.php Email: litiges@cm2c.net
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, and failing an amicable resolution, the French courts shall have jurisdiction, subject to the mandatory consumer-protection rules applicable in your country of residence.
17. Miscellaneous
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held void or unenforceable, the remaining provisions retain full effect.
- Language. These Terms are drafted in French. In the event of any discrepancy between the French version and a translation, the French version prevails.
- Force majeure. Serenity Media cannot be held liable for any failure resulting from an event of force majeure within the meaning of French law.
